OSAR 2008 Auto Body Shop Survey Results Portland Tri County Area

  During a two week period in January of 2008, OSAR hired outside independent contractors to survey body shops in the Portland Tri County Area ( Multnomah, Clackamas and Washington Counties). 120 shops completed the survey with the following results:                                    (All responses are rounded up or down to the nearest amount.)

• Set-Up and Measure time: 3.0 hrs
• Mark-Up on Sublet: 25%
• Mark-Up on Towing: 24%
• Do you place a cap on your material charges for paint materials? 89% NO
• Do you place a cap on your material charges for body materials? 91% NO
• Do you write for frame set up and measure, under the frame and measure, under the frame rate category? 95% Yes

• When necessary, to restore a vehicle to pre-loss condition, do you prepare your estimate with any  of the following procedures?
